- Earthco is the largest private distributor of winter salt in Nova Scotia.
- Earthco entered the winter salt business at the request of many customers. Their concerns centered on local availability, wait times at the salt mine, and the need for a large stockpile of winter salt in the Halifax area for snow and ice contractors. Earthco agreed and had a large salt dome constructed with a capacity of 1,500 tons (100 tandem loads).
- Earthco can provide direct shipments of salt in our 37 foot tridems trailers and twin steer-tridem pup trailer from the Pugwash salt mine and from our salt dome in the Halifax area. Customers can also pick up at our salt dome. We have the capacity to load quad axel trailers, tridem trailers, dump trucks and landscape trailers. Weigh scales are used for loads 3 tons and over. Contractors requiring small loads can pickup by the cubic yard with their trucks and salters.
- Our salt dome also provides a backup for regular customers during back to back storms and eliminates the long wait times at the mine following snow storms. Regular customers, in consultation with Earthco, may let their salt supplies dwindle in the spring knowing that Earthco usually has salt available.
